It is about a year now that we installed LinuxCNC on our Norte VMC.
We just passed 2.000 working hours.
We fabricate moulds & large complex parts on the machine.
To our satisfaction we encountered NO glitches in LinuxCNC; none, zero.
Our former "Zombie CNC with the old Sinumerik" became a tame and handy machine everyone likes.

One particular & important feature on behalf of the operator in the GUI is that the X and Y tool path measurements are shown when entering a G-code.ngc file.
Using this feature, we divide a complex form or part in multiple subpgms, checking the X & Y tool path measurements for each pgm.
Doing so prevents programming errors in many occasions.
Considering a complex & unique part you have to mill, you only get ONE shot to get it right or you can trash the part.
