Hallo miteinander,

TB6 PIN    E/A
1    EINGABE 0
2    EINGABE 1
3    IN COM 0,1

Hello everyone,

I want to connect my push buttons to the Mesa 7i95 and I am a bit skeptical therefore I wanted to ask you what is correct.

Quote manual:
GENERAL - DESCRIPTION
...
24 isolated inputs are provided for general control purposes, including limit switch and control panel inputs. The inputs operate from 4V to 36V DC and can have a positive or negative reference potential for sourcing or sinking input applications. 8 of the isolated inputs can be used to support up to 4 quadrature MPGs.
....

CONNECTIONS - TB6 ISOLATED INPUT CONNECTOR
The TB6 terminal block is one of the isolated I/O connectors on the 7I95. It has 16 inputs (0 to 15)

TB6 PIN I/O
1 INPUT 0
2 INPUT 1
3 IN COM 0,1

What confuses me is the description in "GENERAL - DESCRIPTION" because it is written that the inputs can be loaded from 4 to 36V?
Can someone help me how to connect them?

Gruß Mücke
Sinking Inputs: (Two independent inputs shown)

COM 0/1 --> 4 to 36V COM (Power supply negative terminal)
+4 to +36V --> SWITCH0_COM --> SWITCH0_NC -> IN_0
+4 to +36V --> SWITCH1_COM --> SWITCH1_NC -> IN_1

Sourcing Inputs: (Two independent inputs shown)

+4 to +36V --> COM 0/1
IN_0 --> SWITCH0_COM --> SWITCH0_NC --> 4 to 36V COM (Power supply negative)
IN_1 --> SWITCH1_COM --> SWITCH1_NC --> 4 to 36V COM (Power supply negative)

There is no connection from the inputs to 5V, they are completely isolated

I have tried to represent it pictorially, I hope that I have understood it correctly.

Einen Widerstand muss ich nicht einbauen?
I do not need to install a resistor?

You do not need a resistor

You can share the 5V supply (though its typically better to run mechnical switches on 12-24V)

Danke für dein Schnelle Rückmeldung!
Dann mache ich mich ans verkabeln.

Thanks for your quick feedback!
Then I'll get to work on the wiring.

Frage.

Ask.   Do I have to connect the GND (-) of the 5v and 12v power supplies together?

6 x Taster (xx mA) = x,xx A
8 x NPN Sensor  (200 mA) = 1,6 A
Gesamt 12V mit x,x A

Unfortunately I have one more question, I can't find it in the manual.

How much mA do the inputs draw?

I am in the process of laying out the 12V power supply:

6 x push button (xx mA) = x,xx A
8 x NPN sensor (200 mA) = 1,6 A
Total 12V with x,x A

8 x NPN sensor (200 mA) = 1,6 A

Nein, nein, nein ! :)
That is the current the sensors can switch.
For our normal use they might use 20 to 30mA each, so a 2A power source should be more than enough for all the sensors and inputs.
20mA = 0.02 A

Oh dann habe ich da was Falsch interpretiert.

Oh, then I have misinterpreted something.
Thanks for the correction.

How much current do the inputs need for a "switch" switch ?6 x Taster (xx mA) = x,xx A
8 x NPN Sensor  (30 mA) = 0,24 AGesamt 12V mit x,x A
