Setting the width of the VCP in Axis?

What controls the width of the VCP in Axis (the right-hand pane area)? I've put a couple widgets in there, but it's very narrow. Does it auto-size based on the contents, or do I need to specify a width somewhere?

try setting the width of the widget under the main window.
When embedded that main window is replaced.

I found "requested width" (I think that's what it's called), that seemed to work.
