Hello,
I installed Debian 11 in a VirtualBox VM, I installed LinuxCNC, all working fine.. Of course RT extension.Well.. I followed this  Video   and Glade is working fine but widgets related to vcp are not loaded.

In the terminal I get thse errors:

glade-3:2081): GladeUI-CRITICAL **: 16:52:02.631: Unable to load module 'gladepython' from any search paths
GladeUI-Message: 16:52:02.877: 3 missing displayable value for GtkCellRendererText::underline

(glade-3:2081): GladeUI-CRITICAL **: 16:52:02.909: Unable to load module 'gtksourceview-2.0' from any search paths

The original video showed how to do with Debian 10.. and some pre-requisites are not installable with Debian 11 like "python-gtk2-dev"

How I can solve?
Should I restart from scratch installing Debian 10?

Thanks
Bye
Andrea

Its probably a Python version error. Python 2.7 is not supported  in Debian 11.

What version of LinuxCNC and what version of Glade?

Edit: from what I can make of
the horrible video you have Glade 3.8. This is meant for Gtk2, you need the Glade version from Debian 11 for Gtk3 which is 3.38.2. You can install it from the Synaptic package manager.

Hi phillc54, yes, the video was nice because the installation seemed completed but terrible, yes.. specially because super fast, impossible to follow even with speed 0,25

Well, ok.. I did not found any guide for the installation of glade3.38 but I will try to investigate and follow your suggestion.
At least, thanks to your reply I understood it could work...

Maybe in meanwhile I can ask you a suggestion:
I'm super happy to use LinuxCNC on Rpi4, even performances are not the best, I created myself hardware for GPIO, etc..
Now I would like to edit Axis GUI in order to add some information and handling better jog of axis (terrible as it is by default).. and I would like to change a little bit (if I will be able..) the layout, not suitable for 1024x600 that is the resolution of my 7" display.
Following some thread in forums, I decided to install all in VM in order to change the GUI and then import in the RPI.
Glade seems more flexible then QT.

in your opinion, what I wrote makes sense?
There is a setup (ISO or VM) already configured with linuxCNC and Glade? I need it just for edit GUI, not working with it..

Thanks, I will write something if I reach a target..

Update:
I installed glade 3.38, Gtk3 using Synaptic, I'm not Linux expert so.. every day a discovery!
It was really easy!!
Well.. now I have a couple of issues:
1. seems missing "gladevcp", the message opening a file present already in LinuxCNC:

2. Even I install all, maybe I can't edit something existing done with Gtk2, right?

Thanks! Yes, nice.. I will evaluate deeply for sure.
My desire still to find a way to edit GUI because for example I connected Inverter with Modbus and also some devices designed by me in Modbus for temperature, flow of water cooling so it would be nice to show values on hmi somewhere..

But these are for sure nice starting point in case..

I found this "magic" video!!  Debian 10 + GladeVCP
Finally with Debian 10 and simply installing glade through Synaptic package manager it is correctly working!

Now I can start my job.

Thanks
