Axis Homing not working correctly? was created by tjamscad
Help I am working on a Machine that have Ubuntu 10.04 and Linuc CNC 2.5.1 and my W-axis will not home correctly. We have been trying to get this machine back on line for a few weeks now. This has not been all LinuxCNC realated the machine has been stiing for a few years. So to the problem..
We are currently using Touchy or Axis GUI's. When we tell the W-axis to home it will retract to the positive limit switch and then go negtive to the position where it started from when LinuxCNC was turned on. Any ideas?
HOME = 0.0
HOME_OFFSET = 0.0
HOME_SEARCH_VEL = 1.0
HOME_LATCH_VEL = -0.10
HOME_FINAL_VEL = 1.0
HOME_USE_INDEX = YES
HOME_IGNORE_LIMITS = YES
HOME_IS_SHARED = NO
HOME_SEQUENCE = 0
VOLATILE_HOME = 0

Two things that stick out are your sign for search and latch are different so it will follow the first diagram
here
. Also with home and home offset set to 0 the homing must end up off of the switch. If both signs are the same then home offset is needed to move off of the switch.

That is how all my axis are set. I removed the Home line completely and that didn't help. I even changed to the other limit switch and added a home offset. It is like it renumbers where it was when turned on.

I'm pretty sure that HOME = 0 0 0 0 is not needed as well as JOINTS = 4
Other than that it looks normal except for the SHMEM_KEY = 111 thing which I've not seen before and by the comment is not needed either.
I should have looked to see who I was talking to but I sometimes fly by and slam out a reply and keep going...

I just read back and you say it has the same behavior on Axis as well. Just for a test configure the home sign for seek and latch the same for that axis and give it a home offset that will move it off of the switch and see what it does.
