NEMA 17 is a bipolar motor for this has 4 wire, the wiring is correct.
his torque is anyway too low for this motor .
in my opinion this problem it's due to the some wrong parameters set in the drive el7041
thank you

I can't think of a driver setting that could make a stepper motor hot _and_ weak.
Not both at the same time.

Some motors have 6 or 8 wires, there are ways to connect those wrongly. No real scope for that with a 4-wire motor though.

If you suspect a setting in your motor drive terminal you could reset it back to factory settings.
Perhaps you need larger motors to generate the torque you need?

when i set the current max at 1,8A the stepper it is not hot but the torque is very low, if i try to increase the current the torque increase too, but also the temperature of stepper. The stepper with 1,8A shuold be have more torque (I'm sure of this)

You can measure the torque using the pulley, a piece of string and a spring balance.

What is the rated torque? You can apply 5Nm with a small screwdriver (10Nm with a big screwdriver), and a NEMA 17 motor will typically make 0.5Nm.

So is it 10% of the torque you can apply with a screwdriver? If it is, then it is working OK.

A colleague of mine tried this engine with another drive and it works, has a good torque and an acceptable overheating.
so maybe the problem is that they are badly set parameters or that the drive is not suitable for this stepper but it seems strange to me.

which parameters could influence this actions?
