Hi, I have a Chinese BLDC controller for the spindle and I have no idea how to wire it to the Mesa card, I don't even know what the HALL terminal is for, I have found a diagram but it only turns and I think it can take more advantage (turn in both directions, revolutions, etc). I enclose the terminals and pins that you have to see if you can lend me a hand.

Motor Driver:
HALL terminal
V-
HU
HV
HW
V+

CONTROL terminal
F/R
SV
ALM
PG
EN
+10V
GND

Mesa TB4 connector
1 SPINDLE-
2 SPINDLE OUT
3 SPINDLE+
4 NC
5 SPINDLE ENA-
6 SPINDLE ENA+
7 SPINDLE DIR-
8 SPINDLE DIR+

Thanks a lot.

Those are for HAL sensors on the motor. Does it have sensor wires or terminals ?

Motor Driver:>>>>>>>>>>>>Mesa TB4 connector

CONTROL terminal
F/R>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>8 SPINDLE DIR+
SV ??????????>>>>>>>>>>>>>>2 SPINDLE OUT
ALM>>>>>>>>>This can go to an input on 7i76 to show spindle errors
PG
EN>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>6 SPINDLE ENA+
+10V>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>3 SPINDLE+
GND>>>>>>>>>>>>1 SPINDLE-/5 SPINDLE ENA-/7 SPINDLE DIR-

Again, you should wait for PCW to confirm that, it's been over 3 years i installed my last 7i76E.

Again thank you very much Tommy, no problem waiting :)

Sensors wires or terminals the motor you mean? No it doesnt, the motor only have 3 wires (U, V and W)
What is the HALL exactly for? just to know and go learning.

Must wait for PCW then ;)

You are welcomed.
There should be 5 more wires ( 8 for differential outputs ) that usually go to the encoder side of the motor for hal sensors that tell the drive at what angle is the rotor inside the motor positioned and subsequently what winding should it energise to move in one direction or the other.
If it does not have them it will work without them, some spindles do not have them, some do.

PCW where are you!!! :silly:
I need your knowledge.

Tommy I wish I could talk to you would it be possible? How do we do it?

Good morning to all. While I wait to see what PCW says I will try the combination that Tommy has suggested. Is there any danger of damaging the Mesa card?

Do you have a drive manual that shows suggested control wiring?

Note the the 7I76 spindle ENA and DIR outputs are just switches
so you should be able to verify drive operation with mechanical switches

If mechanical switches work for the drives EN and F/R pins, the 7I76 outputs
should work also

Right now it is working with a mechanical switch and one of the cables effectively goes to EN, the other to GND together with one that goes to the potentiometer of three pins, the other two cable of the potentiometer go to + 10V and SV.

What I have no idea is how to wire the inputs to 776 to make it work just as the direction of rotation works, etc ...

Thats the info I found from the Seller:

Motor Driver(WS55-220):

Voltage:24-50VDC

Rated Current:14A (Current Limiting is about 15A)

Max. Supporting Speed:20000RPM

Speed Control:1, Connect to external potentiometer; 2, Connect to external 10VDC voltage.

Speed Output:PG signal

--there is a 5V speed pulse output between this port and earth). If output frequency is P(Hz), motor pole

number is N, speed is F(RPM), then output speed frequency, P=F*N/60

Alarm Output:ALM signal, there is alarm pulse output between this port and earth

1.This port outputs 5V high level when normal working;

2. When it is powered on, but speed control signal is quite low and motor does not rotate, port signal is

low level; that is to say, when EN button is open, as long as motor does not rotate, alarm port signal is low

level, indicating the state is abnormal and need to be dealt with;

3. When it is under-voltage, over-voltage, stall, lacking phase or phase short circuit, port signal is low level.

CW/CCW: F/R, external switch connects to F/R port at one end, and to earth at the other end; motor's

rotating direction can be changed.

Start/Stop:En button, external switch connects to EN port at one end, and to earth at the other end;

motor starts when connect to earth.

Stall Protection:Motor stops working when stalled, and starts when powered on again

Power Light:Green light on when powered on

Indicator Light:Red light flashes once at intervals when EN power on, potentiometer or external voltage

not power on; Red light flashes seven times at intervals when EN not power on and on stand-by state.

Insulation Resistance:>100MΩ(normal temperature and pressure)

Dielectric Strength: 0.5KV, 1min(normal temperature and pressure)

So tommylights wiring should be correct

(though you may have to invert the direction signal in hal)
