I think you have them set in the hal file and the ini file. They should only be set in one of them

In the hal file it seems you have them set at 50000. I think that should be 5000

Thanks for taking a look Clive. I just updated to 5000 in the hal file and still no luck unfortunately.

So I've been testing the parallel port direction pin values through a multi meter, and they don't appear to be changing as they should. I've tried both 0 and 0x378 as my port as it appears to be, but no luck.

Code:
niko@debian:~$ sudo dmesg | grep par [sudo] password for niko: [ 12.031264] parport_pc 00:04: reported by Plug and Play ACPI [ 12.036975] parport0: PC-style at 0x378, irq 7 [PCSPP,TRISTATE] [ 12.948847] ppdev: user-space parallel port driver

Well, that certainly looks like 0 or 0x378 should both work.

It might be worth checking that all the pins in your parallel port cable are connected through.

Thanks. I've tried, and they're not giving exactly what I expect, but maybe it's hard to get my multimeter exact, so I've ordered a parallel breakout board to more easily verify the pinouts. I can also hook up an arduino with GRBL to test the hardware side too.

I'll report back once I have those results.

Hello all, I'm still having issues here, perhaps someone can suggest some diagnostics, although at this point, I think there are more than software issues.

I've been having issues getting correct signals from stepconf and LinuxCnc, but decided I should test the hardware end.

I had an Arduino laying around and loaded GRBL. I am getting the signals I expect, at least from the direction pin. I unfortunately don't have an oscilloscope handy to verify the step pins.

Anyways, I have this hooked up and am still not getting anything. After some reading, it appears that the drivers are prone to dying. I'm worried the previous owner may have fried the drivers. Is there any way to verify this?

Additionally, perhaps my steppers are disabled? I'm not quite sure how to proceed. I've tested several jumper settings for various configurations I've seen without any luck. Documentation for the JP-3163B seems sparse, at least in English.

Much appreciated in advance, Best Regards
