I'm unsure whether or not this is the right place to post this but a 1.8GHz Dell Optiplex GX240 with 1MB of RAM returns latency figures of (Servo thread) 12500nS and (Base thread) 16900nS which suggest this PC (thrown out by A. N. Other as a potential sea anchor) is well suited for the task in hand.
If it should be elsewhere perhaps the moderator would be kind enough to move this post.

Actually there is a list on the wiki with latency figures and you can add your findings to it.
