I am having problems when i run ubuntu 10.04 on LIve CD or install. When it completely load i see only mouse pointer on screen and CD-rom icon . There are no menu items .
Where could be a problem? An older Ubuntu 6.06 runs without problems.

Your computer might be too old to run the latest LiveCD try the 8.08 LiveCD.

hmmm aren't they settings in VirtualBox? I assume He is not using virtual box.
In fact i had this very problem when I updated one of my boxes from 8.04 to 10.04.
There was a command to restore the menu then I allowed it to update and it fixed it.
I'm trying to find the command....
try this :

I had to do it each time I restarted until I updated....hope that helps.
