Hi
You are trying to install (Linuxcnc presumably?) on a core i7 laptop
It probably does have UEFI and MSI have kowtowed to Microsoft and set it so that no other OS can be installed without the right keys (which microsoft will never release) 'for security reasons'.
This is not a Linuxcnc problem per se, you need to look at generic linux forums and see if anyone has managed to install a linux OS on it.
regards
PS
There is a simple solution - which you probably will not like
Take out the HDD, put it in a disk caddy and repartition and format it
Then replace and you can load anything you like, as a bonus you get rid of the Windoze 8 s**t at the same time
Microsoft are hopefully going to have a huge anti-competion law suit on their hands regards UEFI, one has already begun in Spain.
But in the meanwhile everyone just needs to boycott any computer with Windoze and UEFI 'Secure Boot' enabled.
That will have a far bigger effect than the threat of some legal action years down the line.
