10.04 LiveCD Installation locks-up

Greetings,

Wasn't able find this issue through the search option. Hoping there is a known solution to the following...

Symptoms:
About 2 minutes into install the PC locks-up, caps and scroll lock leds flash, Ubuntu progress "dots" halt.

What I've tried/found:
Twice downloaded ISO - 2 different CD-R brands - 2 different PC's with/without network connection (1) Dell Dimmension4550 (2) Dell Vostro 1500 - both known working machines.

-Checksum matched published on both downloaded ISO's
-Fails both Live and Full installation attempts - both PC's with same symptoms
-Check disk files option advises of 1 bad file both CD's... no report of which file though

Any ideas?

Dell Dimension looks to be a Intel P4

Try the Ubuntu 8.04 Live CD, 10.04 will not even load on some older machines

You are correct, P4 in the Dimension. The Vostro is a Core2 Duo. I'll give the 8.04 version a whirl and advise.
