Multitouch with 12.04 Xubuntu Precise was created by Bari
I followed the install instructions at:
wiki.linuxcnc.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?LinuxCNC_On_Ubuntu_Precise
only using Xubuntu 12.04 with XFCE as the desktop.
Acer FT220 is the 10 point cap touch screen used.
Everything installs but you have to follow the instructions here to have the hid-multitouch kernel module load when using the 3.4.55 RTAI : linuxcnc.org/hardy/hardy/emc2/emc2/index...nomai?start=10#46326
The odd problem that I'm having is that if the touchscreen is used to launch Linuxcnc from the menu or from a short cut on the desktop, the window for Axis will freeze with just the desktop background. The title bar for the Axis window will have the Linuxcnc version and "(no file)" listed. Linuxcnc does not crash, it just freezes before the new Axis window gets loaded with the proper graphics. There is no debug output. If you setup the desktop icon to launch in a console, the console will not have any details of a problem. If the mouse is used there is no problem with the launch or if Linuxcnc is in the start-ups, only when launching using the touchscreen as input.
I did the very same exact install on the same system with Ubuntu 12.04 Unity desktop and I don't have any problems with launching Linuxcnc. Just the usual problem of Unity being the desktop Has anyone had problems with Xubuntu and multitouch screens launching Linuxcnc?
