Hi, this is the first time i am using linux cnc. Help me configure it

Purpose- Retro fit a centre lathe
Number of axis- X and Z.

spindle speed drive - planning to upgrade later.

Computer hardware-

CPU:Intel pentium dual core G2030, 3 ghz, 3mb cache, LGA1155
Mother board:ASRock H61M-S1 plus
RAM:1GB DDR3
Graphics : onboard


Controller : PICO Universal stepper controller. link attached below.

I think the easiest thing to do is to install LinuxCNC from the LiveCD, then look in the sample configs for univstep. You should be able to boot that with no drives attached, and it should work.
You can then edit that config into a lathe config:

You need to change
[TRAJ]COORDINATES = XZ
[DISPLAY]LATHE = 1
