Hi,

You have already established that your wi-fi card uses non-standard firmware, which is probably not open source
www.linuxcnc.org/index.php/english/forum...eless-networks#49925

So you can't expect that firmware to be present on the install image.

You should be given the option to load drivers and firmware before the attempt to establish networking, or at least you do on a full Debian install.

If not, just plug in an ethernet cable to get the install done and then install the firmware the same way you did before.

I managed somehow to get it installed. NOT VERY ELEGANT....

During the start up.... while asking me about keyboard etc... I was able to get to a menu that let me execute a shell
then i followed this:
$ nano /bin/check-missing-firmware
Inserted “exit 0” directly after “#!/bin/sh” line
Saved the file
$ exit
continue with the install

Once Linux was up... i copied the /lib/firmware/b43 I got from Asus to the filesystem Wii started to work. :)

The wifi card I have is wl-138g v2 asus

Good hacking B)

I noticed when doing an install from the DVD of the iso, just how cut down the install was compared to a full debian install

On a full install there is an option to put firmware files on a USB stick (at least on the expert install there is) which enable devices to be found properly

I had similar problems with a built in wifi realtek PCIe card and managed to get it recognised that way, albeit I removed the card and went to ethernet cable full time, just wanted to see if it worked :laugh:
