Debian install - problems updating was created by blacksmith99
I installed the Debian Wheezy (debian.hybrid.iso' earlier this evening. Linuxcnc works fine. The version is 2.6.1
When I try 'sudo apt-get update'
I get the errors listed below.
I have looked at the sources.list file and the sources.list.d directory and found the linuxcnc entries. Everything seems fine, but I am not a Linux person.
I can't seem to resolve this.
Here is the screen text after the apt-get update..............
~$ sudo apt-get update
Err linuxcnc.org lucid Release.gpg

W: Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead.
Anyone have an idea what the 'cloudfront.debian.net'
and the errors following the "W: " errors are all about?
Thanks,
Matt

Sounds like a bad network connection or DNS problem
You might try pinging linuxcnc.org or cloudfront.debian.net
to see if its just a temporary thing or some network issue you need to resolve

Hmm, I don't have any issues getting out on the web.
The computer updated through the software update tool.
Am I missing something?
Thank you for the reply.
I will try the pings.
Regards,
Matt

It has just taken me 5 minutes and 3 server errors to reply to this post, so that probably says it all.
I routinely change my debian settings in apt to the German servers, because the UK ones are often slow or don't work at all, so debian is not immune either.
Give it a while and try again, if you have the default install apt settings, it will work (connected to the main debian US servers)
regards

Thanks for the quick response!
I forget that the connection issue doesn't always happen my end.
Cheers!
