Trying to get 2.7 working on new machine was created by yoshimitsuspeed
I had a similar thread a while back trying to get this machine working on an older version of linuxcnc. I never figured it out and thought it might be an issue with the PCI card so I ordered another one.
I may try installing 2.7 on the old machine to make sure it will work on that but I really don't think it's the software. My old machine had a n integrated PCI port and worked pretty much out of the box. Unfortunatetly it is too slow and has pretty bad jitter performance.
Here is where I am on this computer.
I installed Kubuntu. I probably shouldn't have done this either but the upgrade/install instructions said any flavor should work. This may be adding to the issues.
I cannot get the computer to talk to the machine.
I had to add /etc/modprobe.d/emc2. manually. Now the file says install parport_pc /bin/true
I still get the busy warning though.
I didn't read carefully through the whole dmesg output but I don't really know what all I'm looking for.
This did jump out at me though,

I didn't read carefully through the whole dmesg output but I don't really know what all I'm looking for.
This did jump out at me though,

I would appreciate any input.
If anyone would be interested in setting up a team viewer appointment that would be awesome. I feel like somoene who knows what they are doing could probably figure this out a lot faster if they were able to run through it themselves.

I would appreciate any input.
If anyone would be interested in setting up a team viewer appointment that would be awesome. I feel like somoene who knows what they are doing could probably figure this out a lot faster if they were able to run through it themselves.

Hi
The problem is quite simply you don't have a parport
It does not show in lspci print.
If you have a PCI card, it is probably one of the windoze 'printer cards' that rely on drivers and don't work with Linux quite often, certainly not Linuxcnc.
Either that or it is faulty or the PCI slot is, or one or both need cleaning on the edge connectors etc.
Any card with a netMos chip 9845 or above will work out of the box, unless you must have EPP mode, in which case there are some other suggestions

So this one should work right?

Yes it should work fine, but do try cleaning, re-seating and checking in another slot first.
Which one do you currently have?
I am thinking of trawling through previous similar posts and listing those that definitely don't.

I'll play with this one a little more as well as the other one I have and see if I can get anywhere.
If not I'll try to figure out what they are and report back.

I tried the other card today with no luck and same no devices found warning.
One thing I just realized is that card I linked to above is PCI and both the ones I have are PCIE. Could this be the problem?
Otherwise maybe they just aren't compatible?
Attached are pics.
I am just going to order that card I linked to above since it's cheap.

The first one is Sybausa make with WCH382L Chipset.
It does not claim to be anything but a legacy printing card and they have completely failed to work in the past.
On the second I can ID a MAXIM MAX3243CAI chip next to the header.
That chip is a RS232 transceiver.
I think the other chip, is the same Sybausa CH382, they seem to be called both WCH CH382 and CH382.
So both the same from a manufacturer whose cards have previously not worked.
I don't think there is anything inherently problematic with PCIe, but have never used a parport board for that slot, all my workshop computers are too old.
I will add Sybausa cards to my list.
