KenC, I assume that the shell you provided is made to run under Wheezy, right? I have already switched back to Ubuntu 10.04 and tried it again. No luck, as the attached dmesg file shows. I think it's time to move to another mobo.

(well maybe that the 7I76 field I/O is not found which may mean that the field power is not present)

The shell should run with both Ubuntu and Wheezy.
This should reduce your latency.
If you still feel its not good enough, you could do "isolcpus", its said that multicore actually is no good for RTAI.
BTW, what sort of latency are you expecting?

I received this message in old (ubuntu 8) and in last versions of linux.
1Ghz processor. two old pci parallel ports and compact flash hard disk.
I changed the base_period to 15000 because a hard reduction 1:30 in the A axis. Need 1000rpm. for G0 moments.
with base_period up to 15000, the motors turn off at hight rpms
It is time to change the main board for put the steppers at full velocity.?
Is hard to found a main board that fit into the control box.

No, the problem is your 30:1 ratio and desire to run A drive at the equivalent of 30,000rpm
You cannot expect any board to be able to generate that many steps, even with hardware stepping it is doubtful.
I would suggest you reduce your speed requirement or sort the A axis motor size or whatever and hence reduce the ratio, so that it can run within the step generation limits.
