question : Full run from USB was created by wowon
Dear All ...
I have a LinuxCNC installed on USB stick.
It's created per wiki.linuxcnc.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?Hybrid_Iso
I want to use this USB for full run ... not just for installation to real HDD.
Problem is : whatever I write (or install , config ) to this USB will disapeared on the next boot.
Kindly please give me any enlightenment.
Sincerely

Hi
You cannot write to an iso image on a USB stick, any more than you can a DVD.
Stick another USB stick in another slot and write to that if you don't want to use the HDD for some reason.

I wonder if you could format the USB with two partitions?

Probably not.
The iso writes a boot record and single partition to the stick.
Instead of using GRUB and bootable partitions, it uses isolinux and a suitable boot image.
It is really intended for installation to machines lacking a DVD-ROM, running from it is liable to be disappointing and limited
