2.7.0 Release (OR ~pre2?) was created by rip1980
So maybe jumped the gun a little, but the
WIKI says 2.7.0 is out today
, and I was reworking my setup anyway so grabbed it.
First observation, the DL link (I opted to do a fresh install) for 2.7 delivered 2.7.0~pre2, apparent after installing it.
So maybe they didn't rebrand it yet, or it really is ~pre2, what do I know?
In stepconf, I found that after the first port access (Using a parallel netmos chip into a Gecko G540) all further accesses will result in an error in DMESG (So test X axis, ok. Go to Y, nothing and errors in dmesg...)
Not chasing it to hard since I'm probably jumping the gun, just be aware if you are similarly situated. Looking forward to 2.7.0.real.actual.release to try again.

For giggles, I did the upgrade from ~pre2 to 2.7.0 Release as per the
wiki
and that works. Since it was ~pre2, the apt repository edit (Section 1.1 in the upgrade document) was not needed.
And Parport seems to be working as well.
So until someone rolls a new true 2.7.0-release ISO in the wiki link, this is probably the de facto method of a fresh 2.7.0 install for now.
CHEERS!
