Warning after upgrade to Ver 2.7.0 was created by joekline9
After upgrading to Linuxcnc 2.7.0:
using 5i25/7i77
I had to delete line in .hal for pet watchdog.
addf hm2_[HOSTMOT2](BOARD).0.pet_watchdog servo-thread
OK
Now it runs but I get the warnings below...
hm2/hm2_5i25.0: Warning: sserial remote device
7i77 channel 0 has firmware that should be updated
hm2/hm2_5i25.0: Warning: sserial remote device
7i77 channel 1 has firmware that should be updated
anyone seen this?

This means you have 2-3 year old firmware in the 7I77 that has a bug
to fix, fetch
www.mesanet.com/software/parallel/sserial.zip
unzip the zipfile and cd to utils/linuxcnc and read the README file for instructions

Sorry to be a pain but I am getting errors when running
sudo sh update7i77
I extracted the zip file in Downloads. Does it have to be elsewhere?
See attached file

where does the README file say to run
sudo sh update7i77
I have just updated the README with a 7I77 example so it should be a bit more clear
You first open a terminal
then unzip the sserial.zip file (in your home directory or yourhome/Downloads or wherever)
then cd to utils/linuxcnc
read the README file ( in utils/linuxcnc ) and execute the scripts from that directory
sudo sh update7i77

Thanks PCW,
All works now. Firmware update for 7i77 worked as instructed. I just got a little confused before.
I love the new Trajectory planner in ver 7.0.
Thanks to all of you who help develope and support linuxcnc.
