I recently upgraded to ver 2.7.2 now my Y axis only doesn't respond correctly. Sometimes it will move back and forth about 1" only, sometimes the direction will only go 1 way no matter which way you jog it. Switched drivers y and X the driver and board work fine. Using the Axis, 3 axis mill with 8 wire steppers. Worked great for the last year until the upgrade. Only Y axis issue?

Kind of a newbie, is tuning only for servo's? I'm using steppers.

Usually, but their are exceptions. He is probably referring to getting the proper settings for the step timing. I think he is saying that if your timings were close to the edge, subtle changes in timing from the upgrade could have pushed a marginal setting over the edge.
I have also seen steppers behave queerly, in a similar fashion when there is a bad wire or loose connection somewhere.

theirs a big difference from 2.5.4 , i'd suggest re-adjusting your timing and velocity speeds etc
yes Todd was correct in that i was refering to timing etc
could i suggest you try making a new configuration using stepconf
that should sort your problem

I have to agree that the issue might be timing since i had the same hiccup last year with the 2.7 pre .
Use stepconf or if you prefer edit the HAL file .
