RTAI Terminal? was created by spinnaker
I have been having a devil of a time getting Linux and Linux CNC to install. I first tries the Debian ISO install disk but it just would not play well with my dual boot Windows 10 system.
So first I tried Unbuntu version 14. But when I got to the step 8 of the Unbuntu instructions and have some confusion.
The instructions say to boot to the terminal and type uname -r and I should get 3.4-9-rtai-686-pae but I am getting 3.13.0-74-generic.
But the instructions say "make sure you boot into the rtai kernel". And I am guessing that is where I am going wrong.
How do I boot to the RTAI kernal? Should it be in my Grub menu? If so I am not seeing that option.
Please give details as I am brand new to Linus and Linus CNC.
P.S. I am seeing an RTAI folder under my usr folder.
P.S. I am using Easy BCD in Windows 10 to set the dual boot options. Could I be overwriting the grub configuration?

I think I figured it out. I needed to select previous versions of linux from grub. Then select the rtai kernel. How do I load that by default?

for a relatively simple way to reconfigure Grub is to install and use Grub-customizer, But if your problem is that something else is messing with your settings from the outside???

How do I do that? Remember I am a newbie.
I did find this
www.calazan.com/how-to-set-an-older-kern...bootup-ubuntu-12-04/
Grub does position itself to Previous Versions but that is it. It does not pick the rtai kernel.
My settings are
GRUB_DEFAULT=2>2
My Previous version item is the 3rd item down and the rtai kernel is the 3rd item down on the Previous version menu.
