2.6 to 2.7 was created by marsheng
I had 2.6.5 setup and working on the test bed. It was last used about a year ago. By "mistake" I did a general update and now LinuxCNC crashes.
I tried to update to 2.7 and that came up with many errors.
I though I would start from scratch. I downloaded 2.7 and made a bootable USB disk.
I cannot get it to install or run from the USB It has a Gigabyte GA-J1900N MB. It does however run on an older PC.
It gets to Loading \live\initrd.img ...... and stops.
It must be a MB switch/upgrade error as 2.6.5 works.
Do I carry on with 2.7 or try and fix the 2.6.5 upgrade ?
Thanks Wallace

I have a J1900 and 2.7 boots from a DVD, I have not tried a bootable USB but I suspect you might have a problem with the USB.

Can you post the LinuxCNC error dump that appears when it crashes?
Again,if you can post the errors we can probably work out what is wrong.

I have installed 2.7 from bootable USB on a Biostar J1900MH2. I had some issue installing on a J1800 in that it would not boot from the usb unless I had bios set correctly. Sounds like you are booting but it stalls mid boot.
Are you using a wireless network adapter by chance? I have had issues with booting and using wireless network adapters.

I ended up buying a DVD writer and make a DVD. All worked fine. Seems there are many boot options with USB sticks and the newer MB. They all have to be right to work. Older MB seems to have no problems.
