Following the guide here:
linuxcnc.org/docs/2.7/html/getting-start...etting-linuxcnc.html
Under 7.2 I loaded and updated 12.04. I got as far as step 6. No errors that I noticed but when I reboot I still only have the same boot options in grub.
uname -r
reports:
3.5.0-54-generic
What should I be checking? Should I be installing a different file?

Operator error! The RT shows up in grub under "Previous Linux Versions". It boot fine. I did have to do the second conf file change for the locked memory limit error.
It's a single core P4 with latency numbers around 40,000. Will have to see what I can do to improve that...
