Hardware:

GIGABYTE GA-H81M-S2PH LGA 1150 Intel H81 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard
G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600
Kingston SSDNow V300 Series 2.5" 60GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) SV300S37A/60G
stuck on render ring
GPU HANG: ecode 2:0:0x40ffffc1, in Xorg [226], reason: Ring hung, action: reset

I did not perform a clean install of this system when I updated to the above hardware. I will try that when I get home today... However I have a feeling that may not solve my issue.

With the above error: After 4 or five times of this Linuxcnc will terminate with error...

I have tried:
Ensuring everything in the bios is disabled for power saving ect..
switched default acceleration from sna to uxa.

Still the problem persists. The temp is 31degC so it should not be a heat-sink/over-temp problem.
With the above combo this box is running like a scolded dog... awesome performance!

Perhaps I should get a GeForce 540 and not worry about the internal graphics, I rather not though.

Any suggestions?

Maybe hardware problem?

I would try a stock wheezy install

I have more than a year uptime with no graphics issues with a G3258 system

( The G3258 is just an unlocked, different speed bin version of the G3260)

PCW,

I will add that to my "try" list. Thanks for the suggestion

Are you running an SSD as well?

Turns out Wheezy has no issues at all.

I do believe the default accelerated graphics driver installed by Jessie is the blame for my particular processor. And Im tired of messing with it. I may try again at a later date, but Wheezy is meeting all my needs atm.

Which makes be wonder if I can downgrade Jessie.. to the software acceleration instead of Intel drivers.. Im sure I could..

Maybe Ill throw KDE or Gnome desktop and 'spruce' Wheezy up a bit!
