Install LinuxCNC to USB DiskOnKey, Ubuntu Gnome was created by webmanoffesto
I'm learning CNC and I want to install LinuxCNC to a USB DiskOnKey. I'm running Ubuntu Gnome on my laptop. (I understand that I cannot simply install LinuxCNC onto my Ubuntu Gnome system.)
I used DiskImageWriter to write the image to a DiskOnKey. But then it wouldn't mount and would systems didn't see it on reboot.
Just now I used
> pmount sdb1
So now I can open the drive and I see that it seems to have the whole Wheezy LinuxCNC system in there on a partition.
Using "Disks" I can get to "Edit Mount Options"
Under "Automatic Mount Options - ON"
- "Mount at Startup" is not checked.
- "Show in User Interface" is checked.
So how do I get this working?

dd ought to create a bootable LinuxCNC USB Key.
You could try using that instead of the software that you did use.
