When I navigate to the download page from "LinuxCNC 2.7.8 is out!" I receive a download which, when installed, tells me it's 2.7.0 (Axis->Help->About). I assume I'm being an idiot and going to the wrong download page. Can someone tell me (speak s-l-o-w-l-y please) how to get 2.7.8?
Thanks,
Ian.

It may be that the LiveCD image is still 2.7. The Update Manager should offer you an update to the latest version though.

Thanks Andypugh - you're right.
Cheers,
Ian.

Tip for others: you have to run the updates at least twice before the upgrade from 2.7.0 to 2.7.8 is completed.

What do you mean when you say that "Apply" does not grey-out? Why do you think that it should?
(I don't have Synaptic to experiment with here, I am on a Windows PC)

You probably have to mark LinuxCNC for upgrade specifically, right-clicking on the green box.

What i mean by gray out, i meant that the APPLY button is not available. i cannot click on it as all the possible upgrade are downloaded!!

i try to RELOAD, MARK ALL UPGRADE and APPLY this morning and i could click on it but the only available upgrade was a zip softwatre

This is what i get if i mark for update the linuxcnc directly:

linuxcnc:
Depends: libboost-python1.40.0 (>=1.40.0-1) but it is not installable
Depends: linux-image-2.6.32-122-rtai but it is not going to be installed
Depends: rtai-modules-2.6.32-122-rtai but it is not going to be installed or
rtai-modules-2.6.32-122-rtai but it is not going to be installed
Depends: python (<2.7) but 2.7.3-4+deb7u1 is to be installed

Any clues?
Thank
Patgadget

Have you accidentally updated the OS perhaps?

What does uname -a say?
