Can you describe the ways in which the attempts to install have not worked?
The most reliable way to do this is probably:
1) Buy a USB DVD drive (About £25)
2) Write the ISO to this drive
3) Use the same drive to boot the target PC.

USB DVD Drive? What's different in doing it like that instead of writing the ISO to a USB and setting the boot order to prioritize that USB?
I've tried the USB way writing it from Rufus, Live USB installer, unetbootin, and from downloading it via terminal and writing it to the usb. Once written via terminal it ceases to show up in the boot menu at all. However the write from UNetbootin still shows up but won't selecting it/prioritizing it doesn't do anything.

I bought the DVD when I couldn't get a particular PC to boot from USB no matter how hard I tried.
I did ask you what wasn't working, and made a guess that you couldn't make the USB bootable.
We can give better answers to better questions...
