The ISO images are updated very infrequently. I'm not sure what the current version is on the ISO (it might only be 2.7.0 and definitely is not 2.7.8). If your machine has an internet connection it is very simple to update to the latest version after installing, just run the software updater program.

The LiveCD's are always only the base version ie. 2.7.0 then the Synaptic Manager will update you to the current version. The only time an ISO was updated when there was an error in the ISO itself... and I've only seen that once in many years of using EMC and LinuxCNC.
