LinuxCNC 2.7.13 Lathe Config not working

I have 2 CNC lathes and a CNC router. I upgraded to LinuxCNC 2.7.13 and found the lathe stepconfig would write the files and the launcher but the Lathe launcher would not start LinuxCNC.

The stepconfg for the router worked OK.

I reinstalled LinuxCNC 2.7.0 on all my machines to get them working again.

Please check out the lathe stepconf on this version.

A new stepconfig bug is possible (I think a recent axis assignment bug was found with stepconfig and lathe configurations). _But_ why would you re-run stepconfig when upgrading LinuxCNC? You old hal/ini file should work.

To do the install I did a complete install in the computer. This of course made everything new.

To return to 2.7.0 I had to do another complete install.
I don't know another way to make a good install.

You don't need to install new to upgrade. I have LinuxCNC 2.7.13 running on Ubuntu 10 on 3 machines. If you do desire to get a new OS you copy your configuration folder to some place and after the install copy it back. You just need to run a sim once to get the directory structure setup.

Is there a way to return to a previous version without reinstalling the old program?

You can force a version in the Synaptic Package Manager.

But I am fairly sure that there is no reason to downgrade in your case.

Hello All,
Hope that this question is related. I've just started playing with LCNC and I was asked what version I was using.
I think I am using 2.7.14 but the splash screen say 2.7.0 Where or how do I find my current LCNC version?

TIA,

Dave.

The Synaptic package manager will know, and will also allow you to upgrade too.

The linuxcnc_info script probably tells you too. (Not at a LinuxCNC machine at the moment to check)
