I'm having trouble machining on my CNC with Mint 19.3 and Linuxcnc 2.8.0, can I post what's happening here or open a new topic?
I'm lost on where to post here on the forum to get help, apparently the machine loses pace at times and from what I've noticed/tested, it's not a mechanical problem.

A new topic in the General area would be the best place to start.
Remember to give your PC specs, your OS, as not all may have read this thread and the hardware you are using Mesa card or parallel port.
Including you Hal and ini files to begin will save time.
A description of your machine, eg steppers or servos ball screw or plain lead screws and the like.
And finally a good description of the issue, any photos that may highlight the issue.
Be prepared for a few other questions.
And hopefully before you know it you’ll be making chips.

Hi How are things. I installed Linux Mint 19.3 as recently advised, and copied and pasted all the lines on page one of this topic.
Mint 19.3 installs quite well, no errors, both networks are up and running, but after reboot Linuxcnc still doesn't seem to be on the system. I can't find a link anywhere. should i try doing the copy past all the lines again.

Ok another question. I found the linuxcnc tried doing a pnc.config and it said
You have no hostmot2 firmware downloaded in folder:
/lib/firmware/hm2/
PNCconf will use internal firmware data
I tried finding hostmot2 in the package manager and its not there. so i need to know where to find the hostmot2 package and how to install it.
Any ideas?

That is just a warning and can be safely ignored, no need for it except if using older Mesa boards.

an attempt to add a repository "sudo apt-add-repository 'deb buildbot.linuxcnc.org/ buster 2.8-rtpreempt'" gives an error: Repository already exists.
