I have put together a new tower with a single LinuxCNC install using the package image install (USB) - looks good.
It has all the familiar tools that I have on my Lubuntu laptop.

But, nowhere can I find a GUI tool to set the system clock.
As part of the playing around it was easy to use the BIOS to set the clock, but is there a GUI method ?
If not, I am quite capable of using the Terminal, so no great loss.

The Stepconf configuration looks usable, will try on the mill tomorrow.

I use Debian sometimes, but XFCE is somehow crippled as far as a lot of things go. I still do not know how to set the clock, and for taking snapshots with it i asked here on this forum.
I use Mate, strictly for everyday computers.

To be honest I've never has to set the system clock time on it. It has always self set using the correct internet time for me

(However I don't have XFCE running on any bare metal, only in VMs.)

You can probably install an alternative desktop. I accidentally installed LXDE on my test Buster machine. But it was easy to install XFCE from Synaptic, and then choose between them from the menu bar in the login screen.

So, if you prefer Mate, Cinnamon, etc, I _think_ that it's an easy change to make.
(note that I have not checked if this attempts to over-write the realtime kernel, but I don't think it would)
