run EMC always as live-cd ( fully on ram ) was created by jonataapolinario
Hi All!
I would like to get the emc running fully on ram, like live-cd.
There is a way to do this?
i need it to be a secure way to do the machine, in a way that everything you do in the system will be erased at reboot, reducing the chanses of some errors, like file corruption, user manipulation, etc.
I need also to do the emc start directly, on boot, like a cnc only machine.
does anyone know if its possible?

how much ram and time do you want to spare?
These are your options
1) use a solid state disk
2) put much ram in and use a small linux disstro, try to fit it with linux/rtai/emc2 and put it into a tar archive wich will be untarred into normal ram on boot
3) remaster the ubuntu-emc cdrom to do auto login into emc
4) use a normal harddisk install but mount root readonly and a tmpfs into /home and /tmp and untar a guest user before starting autologin (my favorite)
I hope this gives you a clue
