Failure when first Linuxcnc menu screen pops up ? was created by kramerda
Looking for some help
Downloaded stretch-uspace-i386-r13.iso. Onto an Dell/Intel core i5 desktop.
Checksum'd OK. Used Rufus to 'burn' to USB flash drive.
After changing boot sequence and disabling secure boot, USB LinuxMain Menu appears like it should.
Had to disable secure boot because machine defaults to eufi for windows not a bios
At first Main Menu screen, selecting first option "Debian ...Live kernel it says OK then hangs up forever
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Dennis

Try using DD on Linux or win32imager on Windows, most members here use them and they never fail.

win32imager worked to make a bootable Linuxcnc disc on a USB FLASH DRIVE, but did not allow for doing same to an ssd. (only usb drive should up as a device option)
Can I now copy the USB to the ssd or do I need to do something else to make the ssd bootable linuxcnc
Thanks Tommy

Boot from USB, choose to install at the first menu, follow the instructions, do not enter a ROOT password if it asks you to, just click next.
That will install it to a HDD or SSD in the PC

After booting from the USB I ran the first 'Install' version.
That worked - after a whole lot of Deb 9 / Network stuff.
Never did see anything about a ROOT password.
For reference Deb 9 linux-cnc-stretch-uspace-i386-r13.iso works when installed to an virgin internal SSD from the Live loading on a USB flash drive.
Max jitter about 4000. Video is motherboard/Intel i5 CPU in a Dell desktop.
Again - thanks for your time and patience.
