Install stops "Failed to Partition Hard Disk

Error message: " Failed to partition the selected disk
This probably happened because the selectd disk or free space is too small"

New machine - runs 'LIVE', Linuxcnc stretch-uspace-amd64-r13.iso, fine from USB flash drive
When doing a Graphical install from that USB , install hangs up when tries to write to virgin, clean, 512 GB SSD drive --
-- only other drive in the machine.
Bios (msi) sees the SSD drive.
Bios (msi) defaults to CSM (not UEFI) and AHCI (not RAID)
Not sure what to try next ????f
