Hello I have downloaded and installed the 2.8 Linux cnc ISO based on debian 7 with the RTAI on a HP Elitebook 820 G2
Jitter seams great with <7000 ns.
I got network working after installing the e1000e (intel) driver but I cannot get the driver for the Intel 7265 the iwlwifi from intel to work or to associate with the card.
The AC 7265 seams to be supported from kernel 3.10 onwards.
The iwlwifi does not popup with dmesg | grep iwl nor does any wifi or wireless adapter. The device is present in the lspci.
I would like to get the wifi card working for data transfer from the office to the mashine over wifi.
I will use the Labtop with a MESA 7I76.

Also are there any drawbacks with the mint installation? No Rtai as I understand?
Now i just want to drive a retrofitted CNC lathe with 2 axis without encoders.

In the future (next year) I want to retrofit my Deckel FP4 3 axis and add aditional 4th axis. It has 3 glasscales.

Thanks in advance and stay healthy

FYI the jitter goes up to over 154000 with the debian 10.
Wifi and network work out of the box

If you are using a 7I76E or 7I92+7I76 you cannot use RTAI and must use
Preempt-RT.

Note that laptops are usually not good for LinuxCNC as they often
have power management systems that cause large (millisecond) latency spikes
at various times (like when adjusting backlight brightness or changing
from wall to battery power)
