Hi all,

I had great success installing EMC2 on an old IBM T30 notebook. Since that computer is in my workshop, i'd like to install it on my mac to prepare configs before going to my workshop.

I've installed it on Parallels Desktop 5 without problems. Parallels installer automagically installed parallels tools.

I changed keyboard & language to french (since it's my native language), keyboard mapping to "Macbook / Macbook pro", changed sources to base emc2.4-sim and installed emc2-sim and emc2-sim-dev.

Emc2 launch without problem, but.... there's a problem in display.

The "EMC2.4/Axis" text is not displayed. Only limits (in red) and tool (white cone) are displayed in 3d. The machine position texts are not displayed also.

When I change the view to Top or Reversed top, "EMC2.4/Axis" IS displayed. I had similar trouble when i installed EMC2 on my IBM T30 because of incompatibility of graphic drivers for 3D. Everything gone away when I switched driver to Vesa.

Since in Parallels, I can only use parallels video drivers (parallels video = privideo), what else can I do to make it works?

Thanks for reading, and thanks for that great software...

Cheers
JPC

I found a solution, but not THE solution.

Parallels accept VESA settings, since emulated bios does it.

Just edit worg.conf with "nano -Bw /etc/X11/xorg.conf", and replace :
Driver "privideo"
with
Driver "vesa"

Thats relatively functionnal, but a bit slow....

Any idea from someboby to make privideo driver works with emc2.

Cheers

Not a lot of help, I expect, but it "Just Works" in VMWare Fusion
