New OS?

I see that many changes have been made to linuxCNC in the last couple of years. I have been running Debian 9 stretch for my OS and find that I have to reinstall it because it has stopped working. My question is, do I install this OS which is shaky as best, or is there something newer or better available? I have been to buildot and downloads but I really don't see anything new.
 

Thanks! Since my stretch install has crashed and burned, I have no choice. I have installed Debian 10 Buster to replace it. In the process of getting everything configured. This can be closed.
