I've had a similar issue when installing Bookworm using a CD. Chatting to someone at Debian, it maybe associated with the CD, but not the USB stick...
Anyway, using the online guide "Getting Started" it all went pretty well. I'm using the QTDragon GUI. Before I started, I captured the various config files (.hal, .ini...) from V2.8.4, and plugged them back in when the install was complete. I don't know if that was a good or bad thing. I spent a few hours going through these config files changing syntax, values, and layout... It would have been nice to have a migration wizard.
I had it going for about 30 minutes before I finished today - looks great. I can see a lot of bugs have been fixed.
Great work guys - thanks!
The only thing that I want to change is - I want the Probe LED on the Main Page (not just on the Probe Page).
BTW, when I installed Debian, I installed the KDE Plasma GUI - it seems to have been a good choice.
Kind regards
Pedro

I use always USB sticks with Ventoy
sourceforge.net/projects/ventoy/files/
It allows booting of multiple ISO's from a USB.
KDE Plasma had huge updates lately and has become the top choice for most Linux users, dethroning Gnome, but Gnome crowd is not taking it lightly so there are major updates to it also.
