Need help with ethernet installation! was created by Holzwurm56
Hello,
i want to install the newest LinuxCNC with Debian12. I make a bootable USB-Sick and can boot the pc in livemodus. I can connect the pc
to the internet via ethernet. Then i want to install LinuxCNC and the installation process stops by the message " Netzwerk einrichten ".
I test it with 2 desktop pcs and a laptop. I tested lan and wlan, nothing works. Has someone an idea what i can do?
Thanks
Hans

Download the ISO from the downloads page, it has everything installed and works in Live mode also.
www.linuxcnc.org/iso/LinuxCNC_2.9.2-amd64.hybrid.iso

Yes, you can control machines in live mode with the official ISO, but it will not save the config.
You can save the config on a hard drive or another USB drive.
Added link to ISO above.

Hello tommylight, Control my lathe in live mode, with a program that crashes when installing? The risk is too great for me.

Live mode is for testing only.

I have download Debian 12.4 and create a bootable USB-Stick, than i have install Debian with the usb-stick without any problem.
Then i install lcnc with synaptic. It was not the newest version but 2.9. I think there is a problem with the debian-lcnc-iso.

The latest version of linuxcnc is not in the main stream Debian.
If you want to install linuxcnc on hardware,
Select the correct option when booting and install on your PC.
This sets up the apt environment
There is nothing defective with the ISO if you follow the intended use.
Why would you use synaptic when the live installer already has the latest version of linuxcnc installed? Its for testing only
