I have used v 2.7 in the past with success and it is running on the box that controls my mill. The ony ISO I can find is 2.9 and it has amd in the name. My Lenovo is Intel.
When I try to add a linuxCNC guest in Virualbox, I get Can't run guest install. If I start it, I get "no bootable media".
Here is 2.7.14 ISO. It seems to install. www.linuxcnc.org/iso/linuxcnc-2.7.14-wheezy.iso
I spoke too soon. It never completes installation. Has anyone done this in Virtualbox?

Almost all Linux versions use AMD64 in the naming to describe the 64BIT versions, all work for Intel, so download and install it.

Just ran through an installation on VirtualBox on a Linux Mint host with a wheezy iso. Everything went fine. No issues. Take note that Wheezy is end of life and latency will be too high to run a machine. To run a machine you need to be running on a physical\real machine not a virtual one.
If you want any help something more than "It never completes installation" is needed.
