Computer crashing was created by RLA
Hi..trying to switch from Mach 3 on Windows XP ....I have the following on same PC but have wiped out Windows and Mach 3 and have only:
Debian GNU/Linux 12 (bookworm)
64 bit
xfce version 4.18
GTK Version 3.24.38
Kernel Version 6.1.0-23-rt-amd64
cpu Intel core 2 cpu 6400 @ 2.13 ghz x 2
Memory 3.8 GiB
GPU Mesa Intel 965Q (384.0 MiB)
and keep having linux stop working and bring me to login after a few changes on screen like open another file or open another application or even resize window..
Will be thankful for any help!!..

Open a terminal and type while LinuxCNC is running

What are the temperatures shown?
Then, reboot and enter the BIOS and check what the voltages are in the "hardware monitor" section.

Have a look into /var/log/syslog and see if you can find anything time-relevant to your issue(s).

I've given up on the core machines, personally not worth the time or effort mucking around with.
One thing that may help is taking the PC apart and cleaning it.
