Devuan, RPi5 & Linuxcnc Image was created by unknown
As per title, is this something anyone would be interested, not meant as a replacement for the official image. If your new to Linuxcnc I would recommend the images on the download page.
Main reason for experimenting with this image:
Sysvinit rather than systemd, some prefer this option for personal reasons.
I really like the Devuan Project's CoC.....I know this subject can be quite polarizing for some. Yes I know it is "based" on Debian.
Just wanted to have a look at Devuan, so 2 birds with one stone sort of thing.
Out of the box no zramswap.service issue....may not mean much, but there has been a bit of discussion on this front.
Choice, whether this is good or bad or confusing.
I included network-manager & network-manager-gnome for easier network setup. There is some debate regarding the affect on latency, so there is some debate around that. Also some nice stuff such as xarchiver & thunar plugin (create & expand archives via right clicking in thunar file manager), evince (pdf reader) so for those that are curious can read the Linuxcnc docs.
As per the bookworm images menu-config is used to set locales & such and same username:password to login, cnc:cnc.
Have Fun
Rob
