hello
Well I haven't gotten all of the starting problems fixed yet. I have moved onto other things in the mean time and will get back to this when I have more pieces finished.
One thing that puzzles me is that I cannot start halscope from the Gmoccapy maintenance menu. The button for starting halscope is there but when I select it nothing seems to happen. The rest of the buttons appear to work. Is there a special procedure for starting halscope from within Gmoccapy?

Thank you for checking. This might be a clue, it is the first time I have checked the terminal for this error.
The first bit is the usual error I can't trace down but the last one is new to me.
TIA

How have you installed?
There seems to be a permission problem.
Please run gmoccapy and then from a second terminal launch halscope, does that work?
I am sure this is not caused by gmoccapy.
gmoccapy launches the following command if you push the button:

Thank you. Starting halscope from a separate terminal produces the same error message. It is obvious that the problem is with my installation and not with Gmoccapy. Now it is time for some research because I have no idea what the error message means.
