No, I'm trying to start it with the screen button in a gmoccapy sim config at the moment.
It works with older master builds but with the recent master it doesn't work any more. Something seems to have changed, maybe it's a python2 vs python3 issue.

My appologies, looks like this button only works to load the classic ladder gui if classicladder was loaded in HAL.
