This goes against my better judgement, so here goes.
I'm on 2.9.2 and learned 2.9.8 is out. So, I wanted to try and update Linux and Linuxcnc on the lathe I built. I connected it to the Internet and made a complete backup of the whole drive with Balena Etcher just in case something went wrong. According to the Internet, Linuxcnc will "self update" if internet is connected. However, I never got a pop up to update as described online.
So I started to do it manually. Linux Debian 12, codenamed "Bookworm", found several updates and updated just fine, everything still works. But Linuxcnc version 2.9.2 stayed the same. Did some homework and found that the linuxcnc repository in synopsis was missing. Then I ran into expired key issues which I had to resolve. So I did some more homework figured out how to add the Linuxcnc repository to synopsis. I ran the update/upgrade, it found updates. But those updates won't install and say there's issues with the updates that I haven't found an answer to. Some even say the update is broken. This image should give more information about what I'm running into. If I can't update/upgrade I'm going to keep trucking as is. I'm not trying to resolve an issue, just wanted to see if any updates were available and apply them
Now, there's a good chance I'm doing something wrong or perhaps 2.9.2 is the latest or the updates are incompatible etc. Not sure.
