I would not apply any voltage to the drive enable pins, I'm pretty sure you ground them to enable the drive

Grounded (pin1) and then applied voltage to the analog line and I can move my z axis both directions with my bench top supply.

There is a green power light and then when I apply voltage to the analog +/- in the IN red led come on and the axis moves. No other lights at all.

Should there be?

Updated my reply to PCW.... I put not in there on accident. I meant to say I CAN move the axis.

Did not get the spindle moving......I need to go through all the wires and find the pins. Have the manuals so should be ok on that.

I am getting ready to order my boards from Mesa. I was planning on doing the following:

Attachment not found

Can anybody think of why this setup will not work or anything additional I should add to the setup?

Have a look here
forum.linuxcnc.org/30-cnc-machines/31792...rofit?start=40#85988

I did that setup since i had no constraints on budget, but it is worth every cent.
7i92/7i77 are obligatory in most cases, although 7i83 can be used for anlog outs
7i74 since i wanted to use SSI encoders on the machine ( i did order and get the incremental encoders just in case)
7i70 for inputs
7i71 for outputs ( sourcing outputs, you might need sinking ones, so do check )
You can add a 7i73 ( thank you andy ) for MPG
I like to have things separate as much as possible, and makes wiring less messy.

I am sure i will order a 7i83 and another 7i74 and a THCAD nest time i order, the versatility and support of Mesa boards is astonishing.

Sounds like a nice setup tommylight

I am going to go with the 7i92M and the 7i77. I will break things out with terminal blocks to clean wiring up. On a small budget so need to keep the board count down as much as possible.

Skunkwork..... How many inputs and outputs did you end up using to get your machine working?

Keep in mind I will not be using 3 MPG like you did. I will just have a single one.

Just placed my order for my Mesa boards. I wish we had teleportation so I can have them now, as I am ready to get going on this conversion. Just a few days and I can get moving.
