LC 2.9.4 Configuration - Unsupported Locale was created by electrosteam
RPi 4B 4GB, Mesa 7i96, 3-axis vertical mill.
Mill runs LC 2.9.2 with Axis or Gmoccapy just fine.
First install of fresh L2.9.4, using PnCConfig and selecting Gmoccapy.
Get the error message of "Unsupported locale" when selecting [Forward] on the X-axis set-up page.
Used the LC 2.9.4 menu-config to set locale.
I am in Sydney, so tried "en_AU.UTF-8 UTF-8", a couple of other obvious ones, and "All".
Still getting the error.
Tried selecting [Back], but still get error.
Cancelled out and started again, but selected Axis.
Still getting error.
But realized that errors are generated at the step calculation stage also.
Thought this was cleared when I hand entered the correct value.

Thanks for the link.
Looking at locale.
LC 2.9.2:
Menu-config has an extra step for setting locale.
When en_AU is selected, a pop-up shows C.UTF and en_AU.UTF, adds a warning about setting locale, then Ok to accept en_Au.
Then locales are generated before returning to the menu-config dialog.
LC 2.9.4
The extra step is not present.
The return to the dialog is too quick to see if a locale is generated.
Research on Debian locale seems to require editing of files.
I will start reviewing this tomorrow (and re-read the reference link).

1) Reviewed 2009 Debian documentation which suggested $ dpkg-reconfigure locales.
Along the way found instruction to use the Spacebar to select a locale from the list offered.
This is missing from the menu-config instructions.
When locale is selected with Spacebar, the missing step in previous post appears.
Tried it the sequence, and failed to set locale.
2) Reviewed a June 2023 suggestion from www.server-world, suggesting $ localectl.
Ran the sequence and failed.
3) Debian Wiki from 2022, section labelled "Manually".
$ sudo nano /etc/locale.gen
Long list of locales, all commented out.
Uncomment en_AU.UTF-8 UTF-8
$ sudo locale-gen
Locales are generated.
$ locale -a
C
C.utf8
POSIX
en_AU.utf-8
LogOut/In.
$ locale
Full suite of en_AU.
SO SUCCESS.
Ran PnCconf again.
SUCCESS.
I don't know if the LogOut/In step is listed in the official LC 2.9.4 instructions.
If so, I missed it.
Prospect for cutting metal with LC 2.9.4 looking good.

Thank you for posting about the other possible fixes along with their sources.
For me, just pressing the spacebar to select the locale worked fine.
(And yes i was foolishly stuck with this locale issue too, because i didnt know about the "space-bar" to actually mark the required locale in $ sudo menu-config > locale )
