I was just about to try Mint again and I just went to the first post in this thread and the link to the ISO is broken.
Before I go further though is your build using Mate or Cinnamon, I just did a fresh Cinnamon from the Mint site and it doesn't suit me.

A couple of pages back around the 22nd - 23rd ish is the latest.
There’s 2 flavours of Desktop MATE or XFCE and either RTAI or RT_PREEMPT.
ATM MATE with RT_PREEMPT is the more mature and developed version. A new one will be up later tonight Sydney time. Chris squashed a few bugs today in 2.8 so the version of Linuxcnc will be the latest pull as the packages are already done.
But for now The Butter Dog needs taking to the park.

Welcome to a respin of Linux Mint 19.2 MATE
[hr]
Please use win32diskimager if using a windows machine to write image to disk.
In Linux dd is recommended.
Unlike other images I posted this has been created using a virgin install of Mint 19.2 on real hardware.
To apply updates to fresh install open a terminal and use the following, this should not upgrade the kernel.
Iso Image:
No longer available do not ask for access
MD5Sum:
No longer available do not ask for access
Many thanks to all who have downloaded, test, reported bugs and helped.
All issues and support should be directed to this thread.

When you build the debs, there’s no option to build the HTML docs. The Debian packaging setup doesn’t allow for packaging those docs so to add them it has to be done manually. The knock on affect being if you upgrade from, say 2.8 to 2.9, the 2.8 HTML docs will still be there.
Now it would be great if when doing the debian/configure dance if you could request for the HTML docs and have them in with the doc packages or a seperate package. I’ll look at the build process, see how it does it’s dance and have a go at modifying, just for my own edumacation.
The script for installing the build deps needs fancying up, maybe with something a bit more GUI ish.
There is a little niggle with the gcode HTML JavaScript. Which I’ll describe once I get to the laptop......which means get up lol

Just an observation. I tried Cinnamon because I liked the look of it better but it kept pegging the both cores of the processor so I went back to Mate. This was on 19.3.

That's why I'm not working with Cinnamon (wasn't a fan of the look either), just MATE for 19.2 & XFCE for 19.3 as they were the ISO's I had on my computer when I started.
I'm more familiar with MATE & XFCE so I didn't have to muddle around another desktop environment.
Just a personal thing I would rather use XFCE as it is lighter weight than MATE (MATE is my choice for all my GP boxes and laptops), but the consensus is MATE is more user friendly. And to be fair these ISOs aren't meant for use as a general purpose machine; in saying that some will get upset if they can't also use it in that manner as well.
Most of the things I've gone with are personal eg Installing Geany, Midnight Commnader (I love the editor with MC) and gFTP (mc has a ftp client but the ssh client is so great) as I reckon it's a great ftp client. Some things I've added are just shortcut to some web resources and to help install the full development dependencies to do a build of linuxcnc.
